That Déjà Vu feeling
Have you ever had the feeling of Déjà Vu? You know, the feeling that you’ve already lived this moment at some point in your life. Logic will tell you that this is impossible, but the more enveloped you become within a routine the more this feeling occurs. Day in, and day out it seems the things that we do, say, hear seem to fall into a repetitive blur that we call our everyday lives. Fear not, you are not alone. Even some of the greatest jobs and life experiences can lull you into this trap.
Life on auto-pilot
Don’t blink, because if you do life will certainly pass you by. When things aren’t going well, the tick of the clock certainly slows. You can hear it echo, you can feel the rhythmic click, and every emotion, and feeling seems to amplify simply because time cannot go by fast enough. When things are greater than they’ve ever been, your experiences will pass you by at “break-neck” speeds, comparable to that of a shooting star.
You are not alone
If you’ve had these experiences it only validates that you are human and have managed to maintain your sanity. How this makes you feel varies from person to person. Some people can appreciate the fact that life is happening right before there eyes, and for them it feels as if they are living. This type of person feels like the world has come to a complete stop when things aren’t moving. Is this type of lifestyle good, or bad? Are you truly enjoying your life while all of these amazing things are happening to you? You are the only one that can answer this question, but a way to ensure you are enjoying life in the fast lane is to consistently display gratitude for your blessings.
Profiting the moment
Have you stopped to smell the roses? You are amazing, passionate, and hard-working. You have excelled so much, and have accomplished things that you never knew that you could. When things start to get surreal find a way to talk to yourself that only you know, at least this way you are not causing a distraction, or making a fool of yourself by talking to yourself in public. It can be subtle, or invisible, but it’s there, only you need to know it is, and that is all that matters.
Develop this secretive way to communicate with yourself, so that you can check in on yourself. Breathe in as much air as you can, and let out a big sigh of relief. Let yourself, and the world, know that you are not going anywhere, anytime soon. This is an amazing tool that you can use to make sure that reality is in fact, real, so don’t forget to check yourself every now and then.
Taking the driver’s seat
What if you decided today, that you were going to do what you wanted to do, when you wanted to do it ? What if you started taking a little more credit for the things you’ve accomplished? The key to this is to strike a balance between humility, appreciation, and honesty, whilst portraying a strong, confident, and bonafide character that knows what she wants. The journey is long, and difficult, so you’re going to need a vehicle to get you from point A to B. Well fancy that, you already have one, and you’re in it. Do you know if you’re in the passenger seat, watching life pass you by, or in the drivers seat?
If you don’t know, chances are that you are in the passenger seat, and have been most of your life. This is a representation of the proverbial, non-existent glass box in your mind that you’ve trapped yourself in. A subject that we will come back to later on, this glass box represents who you are currently, and your inexperience when it comes to making difficult decisions. The good thing is that this can all change in an instant. No longer will you leave your life up to chance, or in the hands of others. You should be bothered by the fact that you can’t go home, because the person driving the vehicle needs to make a few more stops on the way to the destination. This is just an example, but it happens to us all of the time.
The new you
Unapologetic, unforgiving, unrelenting, fascinating, all of you. Not only are you in the driver’s seat of your own car now, but you have all of your options laid out in front. Do you add in a pair of driving gloves that give you a grip that you never knew existed? Do you adjust the height of the steering wheel in a way that allows you to better see the road? The choice is yours, because the world is yours .
You are not a casual driver, but an efficient one, and the only person in your way is you. You don’t drive just for yourself, but you drive for others. You can anticipate if the car in front of you will turn in your lane, or the car besides you will attempt a merge.
No longer are you a passenger within your own vehicle. Bon Chance.
